All About Acne Cures

By James Smith

Acne can be a huge irritation. The great news is that there is a huge amount that you can do to prevent it. There are a wide variety of acne treatment products available, and they generally fall into one of three categories:

- Prevention
- Acne treatments avaiable without a prescription
- Prescribably medications

It's generall advisable to incorporate generalised skin care products into your daily grooming rituals in order to prevent acne from becoming an issue. Cleansers and make-up removers are available all over the high-street, and won't break the bank if you want to start using them. Your skin care and grooming routine should always incorporate these kinds of products.

So how do these anti-acne products work? Basically, they all limit the production of oil on the skin. The most common cause of acne is this oil which is produced on the skin; it clogs up the pores and provides a fertile environement for bacteria to breed, so cleaning out the pores daily stops this from happening. Exfoliating the skin daily with a special facial wash can also help to remove oil from the pores.

If you're already suffering from acne, prevention isn't going to do much for you; in that case you'll need a specialised acne treatment designed to kill off acne once it has already appeared.. Some of these creams and lotions are available over the counter, without the need for a doctor's prescription. Once such treatment is vanishing creams, and they work simply by getting rid o any excess oil that is present on your skin. Salicylic acid and benzoyl peroxide are the special ingredients in these creams; both of which kill dead the bacteria which causes acne. The best approach is to start with a low concentration of these ingredients in the cream that you choose, so that you can make sure that your skin doesn't get irritated by them You can also get hold of moisturising cream which can get rid of acne, which make use of alpha-hydroxy-acids, and you need to start slowly with these too.

Everyone is different, and some of these treatments vary in how effective they are for different people, so you'll need to give a few creams and treatments a go until you hit on the formula that works for you. If you simply can't find one that does, you should consult a dermatologist.
